Who Needs to Register for COIDA?
Who Needs to Register for COIDA? All South African households employing domestic workers, gardeners, nannies, caregivers, drivers, etc., are now mandated to register with the Compensation Fund.
Why Register? A recent Constitutional Court ruling has expanded the coverage of the COID Act to include all domestic employees, compelling their registration.
Consequences of Non-Registration Failure to register may lead to civil action if an injury or disease occurs in the workplace. Penalties and interest will be levied on top of annual premiums for those not complying.
COIDA serves as insurance for workplace injuries and diseases. The benefits it provides outweigh the risks, as no individual household can afford to cover all costs and benefits for dependents in case of a fatal injury.
Make the responsible choice and register now.
What You Need for Registration: To complete the employer registration process, submit the following documents:
- A filled CF-1E Form (Application for the registration of the domestic worker employer)
- Copy of the Identification/Passport/Work Permit (Employer)
- Proof of the Employer’s Residential Address
- Copy of the Identification/Passport/Work Permit (Employee/s)
- Copy of the employment contract
Download the CF-1E Form after registering your contact details.
